MVR Merge is a simple tool for quickly merging patch and position changes into your show from an updated mvr file. You can choose to import just the dmx address, just the 3D position / rotation, or both!  MVR Merge looks for matching Fixture IDs and simply updates the fixture in MA3 with the new data fromf the mvr file. No re-mapping of Fixture types, no un-wanted fixtures and geometry getting pulled in. A couple limitations:

  • We don’t support Multi-patch fixtures.
  • Fixtures with multi patch breaks only get the first break updated.
    • Depending on the structure of the incoming mvr, this may have unintended consequences, so always double check this.

We are working on ways to handle these limitations, but due to the different ways various programs generate mvr files, we haven’t found a reliable way just yet. Fortunately for most cases this isn’t a problem!

A quick and easy plugin designed to simplify the task of updating patch and 3D position of your fixtures.

If you’re working in a fast paced environment where the patch and locations of fixtures can change at any time, or you need to start your showfile setup before the electircian can hand off the patch, this is the plugin you need.

We keep it simple. Fixtures moved? Merge the new Location. New Patch? Merge it in. As long as your Fixture IDs stay the same, you can pull in data as it changes without worrying about unintended consequences.

We simply match the fixture IDs between the mvr and your showfile, and merge in the patch or XYZ data.

A couple limitations:

  • Multipatch fixtures are not currently supported.
  • Fixtures with multiple patch breaks only get patch break 1 merged.

These are due to inconsistent handling of multipatch and multiple patch breaks in mvr files between various manufacturers. We hope to be able to add these features in the future.
